VIATEL AND GENERAL COMMUMICATIONS
GPTERM for the Amiga. Reviewed in Megadisc6, we know this product is fully
tested and works with ease. By Greg Perry and Steve MacNamee, who fully
support the product. If you can show proof of purchase of Megadisc, there
is a current offer of a Netcomm Pocket Modem WITH GPTerm for $360, not bad
for any communications, and particularly if you're into Viatel. Enquiries:
GP Software, 21 Aloomba Rd, Ashgrove Q 4060. Tel: (07) 3661402.
HARD DISK
20 Meg ($898) and 40 Meg($1040) Hard Disks using ST506 type drives
available by the time you read this from Andrew Wilson in Adelaide,
Tel: (08) 2933960.
If you want to mount your own hard disk in Andrew's setup, you can get the
whole setup without hard disk for $440.
Andrew also makes other good hardware for the Amiga, particularly RAM
expansion boards (up to 8 Meg) - full details on Megadisc 7 or call him.
STEREO AUDIO DIGITISER
Dual 8 bit converters, inputs via RCA sockets; emulates
PerfectSound and compatible digitisers. Works with Aegis Audiomaster,
PerfectSound, Studio Magic (Demo versions available from George or
Megadisc).
Available as:
* Plated through, solder masked, silkscreened PCB with full
instructions : $30 each or $25 for 5 or more.
* As above with all components without case: $60 each or $55 each
for 5 or more.
* Please include $3 for P&P, and don't forget to specify what sort
of Amiga you own. Payment can be made by cheque or money order.
Due to underwhelming demand for built units, George will not be
making available any more built up digitisers, only kits and PCB's.
[ED. NOTE: See the review AUDIO_DIGTSR.rvw on MegaDisc 7]
MULTI-FUNCTION BOARD FOR THE AMIGA
George is currently designing this board, which will be a quantum leap in
power and flexibility for the Amiga, and he is looking for people who are
capable of writing software and/or designing further hardware for the
board. Inside the Motherboard box will be: 68000 processor running at
12MHz; 512K static RAM or EPROM; 4 INMOS link adaptors; 68881 Floating
point coprocessor running at 16 MHz; 68450 4-channel DMA controller; POD
(application board) interface; IBM buss interface. The design will be such
that it will be able to function without being plugged into the Amiga, if
required, and will be expandable in many ways, including extra PODS
designed by George and other interested people according to specifications
obtainable from George, who will himself be designing: a serial pod with 8
RS232 lines; Parallel pod with 4 Centronics ports; A/D card; Parallel I/O
card; SCSI controller. This sounds like a great project, and interested
people should send a SASE to George (see below) for general info; or send
$10 and a written recommendation from a current developer, to gain
developer status. Call Megadisc or George for such contacts.

GPO Box 121,
Adelaide, 5001. Tel: (08) 294 1283 (AH)

DUTILS UPDATE
Mike Hansell, who wrote the directory utility DUTILS2 (on MD7), tells me
that registered users can get the next update, which is a PAL version with
a number of improvements, by sending in a disk and SASE. Anyone who'd like
to register should send in a disk and SASE and $10. Mike has almost
finished the manual, which will be on disk and can be printed out from
the disk. Write to: 56 Shanke Cres, Kings Langley, NSW 2147.
M.A.S.T. DEVICES - MEMORY AND HARD DRIVES

SERVICES
ALMOST-OZ SERVICES - TeX FOR THE AMIGA
Don't write off to the US for this suite of programs (the ultimate in
type-setting for long and/or scientific text), you've got it here in
Australia, specifically for the Amiga (amongst other lowlier machines).
Anybody really serious about Desktop Publishing/type-setting should look
closely at TEX, and if you contact these people they'll send you a sheaf
of papers actually prepared with TEX, along with prices etc. In short, and
I quote, "..AmigaTeX, a good choice of print drivers and MetaFont are
immediately available for your Amiga." They will support the product and
make available further accessories as they become available. Contact:
TEXWORKS, 157 Danks St, Albert Park, Melbourne, Victoria 3206. Tel: (03)
6994083. Alex or Norbert know about the Amiga.
PRINTER RIBBON INKING
Leon Jarvis, a dedicated Amiga user who has provided us with a theme disk
based on the UTILIMASTER Directory Utility, also re-inks ribbons of all
kinds for very low cost ($5 for Megadisc users, more for others). Contact
him at 26 Aston Ave, Sth Penrith 2750, Tel: (047) 363364.
HARDWARE MODIFICATIONS
Nic Wilson in the Toowoomba area will soon be moving into the Amiga area
full-time, and is currently available for writing specific utilities in
Assembly language (such as those on this issue); he can provide hard disks
and all kinds of hardware modifications, such as putting Kickstart in
EPROMS, making switches so you can boot from external drives, etc; and he
and Andy Clay have already put together a lot of useful utilities for the
Amiga, such as "Kicktricks", which is a collection of all available
Kickstart hacks, with patches written for 1.2. Contact him on
(076) 358539 (BH), or find his address in the documents in the Programs
drawer.
Chris Ralph - A hardware hacker from way back (professionally), this
man will do all kinds of hardware modifications for you at a reasonable
price. He's fixed a lot of people's problems already (recommended by us)
including the enduring one of dud PAL chips for the A1000 (which require
replacement or at least some kind of grounding treatment), odd behaviour
by A500s, hard disk problems, etc. Contact him on (02) 511050.
WANTED
Rob Englander, an adept in graphics and animation on the Amiga is
looking for a programmer who wants to collaborate on games projects, etc.
Contact him on (08) 2765500.
TRAINING
ARTSCAPE - Graeme Whittle, who wrote the "FantaReview" on this
disk, runs courses specialising in Graphics & Animation, which are really
practical and hands-on. He will also take commissions for slideshows,
presentations and the like. Find him on (02) 9771829.
SMALL BUSINESS PACKAGES
Ross Kellaway has put together an invoicing/data entry package on
SuperBase Professional with custom screens etc, and is willing to set up
similar packages for any small businesses. Contact him on (02) 5213010.
